SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION

Scalp Micropigmentation is medical, non surgical, non-invasive hair tattoo. It involves placing tiny pigment deposits within the upper dermis of the scalp using a small needle.

Unlike a tattoo machine, our equipment has been specifically developed to work only on the particular type of skin found on the scalp, and allows the technician to release the correct quantity of pigment at a consistent depth.

The pigment does not discolour, but will gradually fade away over time.

There are 2 types of treatment. Permanent and Semi-Permanent.

Both Permanent and Semi-Permanent treatments will fade away over time, however, the main difference is that Permanent SMP delivers instant results. As soon as the pigment is implanted into the skin, you can see it.

With Semi-Permanent SMP, it will take a few days or weeks before the pigment is fully noticeable.

Permanent SMP delivers instant results. As soon as the pigment is implanted into the skin, you can see it.

With Semi-Permanent SMP, it will take a few days or weeks before the pigment is fully noticeable.

This depends on which treatment you have.

PERMANENT: Usually lasts around 5 years. This includes top up sessions being completed every 12 to 24 months.

SEMI-PERMANENT: Usually lasts around 2 years. This includes top up sessions being completed every 6 to 18 months.

Each type of treatment will be done over 3 sessions. The first 2 sessions usually take around 3 hours, as we will be designing the hairline, making sure it fits your face shape. The final session then takes around 1 hour.

For Permanent Scalp Micropigmentation, the first 2 sessions will be completed within 2 weeks, then the final session 30 days after.

For Semi-Permanent Scalp Micropigmentation, the first 2 sessions will be completed within 1 week, then the final session 30 days after.

No. Scalp Micropigmentation can be used for treating balding, thinning, scars and alopecia in both men and women.

That depends on the individual. The needle doesn’t go as far into the skin like a generic tattoo needle. Some clients have even fallen asleep whist the treatment was in progress.

All clients should have a patch test done 48 hours before treatment. Any reaction is extremely rare but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

You will need to sign a waiver if you wish not to complete a patch test.

As with anything, some side effects may occur with Scalp Micropigmentation.

This can include, but not limited too:

  • Redness
  • Itching
  • Dry Skin

During the consultation, we will discuss any medical issues you may have. Some medical issues may prevent the treatment being carried out, but this a rarity.

PLATELET RICH PLASMA THERAPY

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is a non-surgical treatment that helps to restore hair growth.

To do this, blood is withdrawn from your arm and placed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins at a rapid rate in order to separate the bloods different components, in particular, the platelets, as they secrete growth factors and assist in stimulating certain cells that play a crucial role in hair growth. These platelets are then injected into the affected areas of the scalp.

The first sign of results can occur within 2 – 3 months.

The effects of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy aren’t permanent. However, after the initial sessions, the treatment can last around 18 months.

We recommend annual treatments to maintain lasting results.

Each treatment typically takes around 30 minutes to complete.

The usual treatment plan consist of 1 session per month for 3 months. Then top up sessions every 12 months to maintain results.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy can be painful. After all, the treatment requires an injection needle entering your scalp.

As with anything, some side effects may occur with Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy.

This can include, but not limited too:

  • Injury to Blood Vessels
  • Infection
  • Calcification at the injection entry point
  • Scarring
  • Reaction to Anaesthetic

During the consultation, we will discuss any medical issues you may have. Some medical issues may prevent the treatment being carried out, but this a rarity.

MICRO-NEEDLING

Micro-Needling is a dermatological procedure that involves piercing the dermis of the scalp with very tiny needles to stimulate elastin and collagen production. This in turn causes a ‘healing reaction’.

Growth factors are released to promote healing, and thus, encourage new hair to grow.

The first sign of results are typically seen within 4 – 6 weeks.

The effects of Micro-Needling aren’t permanent, so an up keep of sessions is needed.

We recommend weekly treatments to maintain lasting results.

Sessions typically last around 45 – 60 minutes.

Treatments are usually ongoing and completed once every week.

No. Before the Micro-Needling begins, a cleansing of the affected area of your scalp will take place, then a numbing lotion will be applied. Once numb, the treatment will begin.

As with anything, some side effects may occur with Micro-needling.

This can include, but not limited too:

  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Scarring

During the consultation, we will discuss any medical issues you may have. Some medical issues may prevent the treatment being carried out, but this a rarity.

LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY

Low Laser Level Therapy is a non-invasive, clinically proven treatment for hair loss.

The therapy omits a specific wavelength and frequency of light deep into the tissues of the scalp. This light is absorbed by the cells and they become stimulated, which in turn, increases blood supply, nutrients, oxygen, cell metabolism and protein synthesis.

The cells then produce and convert certain chemicals inside the hair follicle which release energy. This energy kickstarts the metabolic process needed for hair growth and the keratin content increases by 30%.

As a result, this therapy brings about a new generation of hair growth.

Results are usually seen around the 6 month mark.

The effects of Low Level Laser Therapy aren’t permanent, so an up keep of sessions is needed.

We recommend fortnightly treatments to maintain lasting results.

The treatments are typically ongoing and are completed every 2 weeks, with each session lasting 40 minutes.

No. The treatment is completely painless.

As with anything, some side effects may occur with Low Level Laser Therapy.

This can include, but not limited too:

  • Headache
  • Redness
  • Itching

During the consultation, we will discuss any medical issues you may have. Some medical issues may prevent the treatment being carried out, but this a rarity.

HAIR TRANSPLANT

A Hair Transplant is a surgical technique that relocates hair from one part of the body (usually the scalp) to an area that has been affected by thinning or baldness.

There are 2 types of surgical procedures. Follicular Unit Extraction and Follicular Unit Transplantation.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a technique that extracts single grafts or individual hair follicular units from the unaffected area called the ‘donor site’. These grafts are then implanted in to the affected area of hair loss called the ‘recipient site’. Surgery can be completed by either a surgeon or a robot.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), is a technique that removes a strip of skin from the ‘donor site’ (the rear of the head). Grafts are then removed from the strip and placed in to the ‘recipient site’. The ‘donor site’ is closed using staples or dissolvable stitches.

For the recovery, you should be very careful with your transplanted hair for the first 14 days after the procedure. The newly transplanted grafts will not be fully secure yet and any rubbing in the area could cause loss of grafts.

Your scalp may be painful and swollen after the surgery.

Within 1 – 3 weeks, the area will be healed, although some redness may still remain.

After the hair has been transplanted, the hair follicles go into a natural resting phase. The small hairs in the follicles will shed within 4 weeks. The follicles begin to awaken around 3 months after the procedure and new, fine, baby like hair will begin to grow.

It can take anywhere between 12 – 18 months for the hair to thicken and fully mature.

A Hair Transplant can last a lifetime, although the lifespan of the transplant can be affected by your hair type, lifestyle, age and the extent of hair loss.

In some cases, multiple Hair Transplants are needed to gain the desired results.

The Hair Transplant surgery will be completed in 1 session. This can take anywhere between 2 and 8 hours, depending on how large the affected area is.

During the surgery, you will be under local anaesthetic and sedation. You will be awake, but will not feel anything.

As with anything, some side effects may occur with a Hair Transplant.

This can include, but not limited too:

  • Scalp Pain
  • Itching
  • Swelling
  • Inflammation of the hair follicles
  • Crusting
  • Draining of pus
  • Infection
  • Losing sensation aound the surgical sites.

During the consultation, we will discuss any medical issues you may have. Some medical issues may prevent the treatment being carried out, but this a rarity.
